Changing DemographicsFor the first time in history according to the U.S. Census, Broward County actually decreased in population between July 2006 and July 2007. The loss of 13,154 would have been greater had it not been for births and continued growth in immigrants. During the same time period, Miami-Dade grew by 10,827 and Palm Beach gained only 99 new residents. Demographers who have noted the slowdown in their projections for future growth, believe this trend is only temporary. Recent 2030 projections have us reaching 8.28 million by 2030, a decrease of almost 150,000 from the previous estimate. 2060 population is estimated to be 11.36 million, almost doubling the population of today. |
