Built

Although population growth has slowed dramatically compared to the past decade, the region must still develop and redevelop its infrastructure to accommodate growth; to mitigate the impacts of sprawling urban development, the manipulation of the Everglades, and increasing CO2 emissions; and to remain functional with the impending changes to the natural environment. It is estimated that, nationwide, two-thirds of the homes and commercial buildings that will exist in 2050 are not yet built, providing an opportunity to reverse the development trends of the past and better address the needs of the future.
